Location

Located about 35km east of Parachilna, Blinman was named after Robert Blinman, who discovered copper here in 1859. The Blinman Mine was the largest in the Flinders Ranges and produced copper until 1908, creating a small township in the process.

Today you can inspect the old buildings, tour the mine, bushwalking or drive to nearby Chambers Gorge for rock pools and Aboriginal engravings – or to the spectacular Gammon Ranges and Arkaroola national parks.Staying at the old mine Captain’s Cottage provides an ideal base for touring the region.
